A Video of the Car

For those of you who aren't familiar with Jack Rickard from earlier posts, Jack is the fellow that encouraged me to change my plans from lead acid batteries to the lithium batteries. And while Jack had very convincing arguments for doing so, one of the biggest factors in the switch was the tremendous drop in price since I'd first looked at the price. From $21,000 down to $7,400.

In addition to help with the batteries, Jack has offered other sage advice. Well he went and posted a video of the car on his website as part of the weekly Friday show he does. It's a long one, well worth watching, and the EV Z3 is embedded somewhere in the middle.

Check it out when you get a chance!

Hi Tim,

I watched your bmw z3 ev video from jack rickard's website. great work! I was looking for your website link & I found out this blog of yours.

I just want to comment on the battery voltage monitoring terminal strips that you made. You might need a small fuse on each of the connection from the Se batteries. Jack has just shown on his recent video the burned wires from the battery monitoring that he did.

That is all. Have a great day.

I saw that, and thought the very same thing John. I have some inline fuse holders on order so that I can do just that. While there's nothing on the end of those wires drawing current through them, like in Jacks application, I'd sure hate to have something short between them and start a fire! Thanks for the comment.
